Students from several area school districts will participate in a second annual “UAV Day” on small unmanned aerial vehicle/drone technology, on Tuesday and Wednesday from 8 a.m.-3 p.m. at The Beeches Professional Campus, 7980 Turin Road. Rain dates Oct. 25, 26.
Among participating schools, including teams of five or six students: Rome Free Academy, Adirondack, Camden, Holland Patent, Morrisville-Eaton, Oriskany, Vernon-Verona-Sherrill, Westmoreland and Whitesboro.
The program will include experts, teachers and instructors in an exploration of the technology and the future role of today’s students, according to an announcement by Andro Computational Solutions, LLC, one of the event sponsors. The theme is “Full STEAM ahead!….Small unmanned aerial systems….The future and you!” The public is invited from 12:30-3 p.m. both days. STEAM stands for science, technology, engineering, arts, and math.
Students will learn hands-on with professionals about simulation training; UAV repair and construction; manual and autonomous flight; programming; sense & avoid demos; cyber protection; plus other related topics.
