The Rome Lions Club will hold its 20th annual Golf Tournament on Saturday, Sept. 11, at Rome Country Club. The tournament is a key fundraiser with proceeds helping the club to provide on-going community support and services.

Anthony Ciotti, golf tournament committee chairperson, said he is “excited about all the fun to be had and especially thankful to all of our current sponsors.”

Serving the visually and hearing impaired of the greater Rome area for nearly 70 years, the Rome Lions Club strives to create and foster a spirit of understanding among all people for humanitarian needs by providing voluntary services through community involvement and cooperation, club officials said, adding that golfers and sponsors are needed to help make this year’s tournament a success and help the club continue to help others in the region.  With the community’s support in 2020-21, the Lions Club has been able to create literacy areas and book boxes, provide free books to more than 500 children and their families, donate over $1,000 to local food banks and missions, support local non-profit projects, provide eyeglasses and hearing aids for individuals in need and sponsor scholarships to graduating seniors.

The golf tournament is a captain and crew format. Teams compete for prizes and awards. Along with a 50/50 raffle, there will be contests for longest drive, closest to the pin, skins and hole-in one.  Sponsorships are available at three levels: Gold, Silver and Green. Sponsors include: Flint Heating and Air Conditioning, ANDRO/Project Fibonacci, D’Arcangelo, Cold Point Corporation, Rome Pre-Owned Auto, Hubman Family, Eye Care Center of Rome, AmeriCU, Rome Teachers Federal Credit Union, RBC Wealth Management, Bremer Hearing & Audiology, Rome Cemetery, Chimo’s Catering, PDG Joe & Lion Pat DeFina, Lion Mike Keenan, ZC Lion Vic Fariello, Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Brown & Brown Insurance, King Pin Lanes, ACE Hardware, Community Bank, Mills Electric, Siegfried & Vance, Palisades Hotel, Party Time Bounce House Rentals, All Seasons Maintenance, Rockford Auto Glass and Reinhardt & Bray.
