On Friday, April 10th, volunteers from Community Coming Together gathered at St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church in Rome to distribute 500 hams to local families in need, alongside their regular monthly food distribution of fresh produce, dairy products, and non-perishable goods.
The event, held in partnership with the Food Bank of Central New York, continued a vital community effort that has served the Rome area since 2020. Volunteers from Project Fibonacci Foundation and St. John the Baptist Church worked side-by-side to ensure families had access to essential food resources.
This month’s ham distribution was made possible through the generosity of ANDRO Computational Solutions, LLC and The Shoreline Group, helping provide families with a meaningful addition to their meals.
The initiative was led by Bob Bojanek, who has coordinated the effort since its inception.
“This effort is about more than food—it’s about showing up for our community in a consistent and meaningful way. Every month, we see neighbors helping neighbors, and that’s what keeps this going,” said Bob Bojanek.
Community Coming Together has grown significantly over the years and is now supported by a dedicated team of more than 70 volunteers each month. During a typical distribution, over 500 families received fresh food from the Food Bank of Central New York—often supplemented with locally donated non-perishable items.
Organizers encouraged community members to support the ongoing effort. Donations can be made through the Community Foundation fund:

Community members were encouraged to support this ongoing effort through donations, where just $20 can fill a pantry bag, $50 can help provide bread for multiple families, and $100 can support protein purchases. As food insecurity continues to impact families across the region, Community Coming Together remains committed to meeting the need with compassion, consistency, and community collaboration.
