Six Years of Neighbors Helping Neighbors

What began in 2020 as a community response to the COVID-19 pandemic has grown into a lasting effort to address food insecurity throughout Rome and the surrounding Mohawk Valley.

Community Coming Together was founded through the collaboration of St. John the Baptist Church (now part of Sacred Heart Parish), the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, and the Project Fibonacci Foundation. Under the continued coordination of Bob Bojanek, the initiative has grown through the generosity and dedication of local volunteers, churches, businesses, and community organizations.

With ongoing support from the Food Bank of Central New York, ANDRO Computational Solutions, and numerous community partners, the monthly distributions now serve more than 500 families and individuals in need.

From coordinating food deliveries and distributing fresh produce to providing additional protein resources during the holidays, each organization and volunteer plays an important role in keeping this effort going.

Community Coming Together is more than a food distribution. It’s a reminder of what can happen when neighbors, businesses, faith-based organizations, and nonprofits work together toward a common purpose.

As we prepare for another winter, we are grateful to everyone who has helped sustain this initiative over the past six years and invite our community to continue making a difference.
