The Project Fibonacci® Foundation invites the public and educators to attend the first of its Project Fibonacci® LifeSTREAM Symposium Series professional development events to be held Friday, October 19, 2018 at The Beeches Conference Center in Rome, NY. LifeSTREAM, “Lifelong-learning in Science, Technology, Research, Education, Arts and the Mind!” is a series of one-day professional development events designed for educators in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM), proponents of STEM w/Arts (STEAM), and other professionals including scientists/engineers, business and community leaders, and the public.
Registration and a Continental Breakfast begins at 7:30AM with opening remarks by Colonel Tim Lawrence of AFRL at 8:15AM, followed immediately by the first of three workshops sessions.
Presentations will be provided by Dr. Al Emondi on his work with Neural Engineering System Design. Drs. Bryant Wysocki and Nathan MacDonald follow with their work on Neural Development in Children. Dr. Emondi then returns to address Human/Machine Learning & the Brain through his work in Prosthetic Hand Proprioception and Touch Interface (HaPTix). The symposium ends with a panel discussion entitled “Hire for Character-Train the Rest”. The agenda can be viewed here.
The purpose of the series is to enhance the awareness of and educational preparation of the students in the region for careers resulting from cutting-edge scientific research and technologies. These careers incorporate a range of STEAM disciplines; the topics presented in the series will reveal future trends in artificial intelligence, autonomous systems, the limits of human and machine learning, and applications to space travel/exploration to the moon, Mars, and beyond. The event provides a unique opportunity for attendees to meet with researchers and scientists to learn what is happening in the fusion of science, technology, and art/design-based projects to enrich STEM education and learning.
Educators interested in attending the symposium are encouraged to visit their My Learning Plan and enroll by October 18th; Professional Developments Credits are available for attending. The public is welcome to attend; registration can be competed online at LifeSTREAM18.eventbrite.com or at the door. Suggested donation is $15.00 per person.
