ROME — The Rome Community Foundation (RCF) recently awarded a $8,550 grant to the nonprofit Project Fibonacci® Foundation (PFF) towards capital equipment purchases in support of its STEM+Arts (STEAM) leadership education programs. The PFF plans to use the funds towards purchasing Chromebooks, drone kits and spare parts, and exhibitor materials to establish an on-hand inventory of hardware items and equipment resources to readily support PFF’s STEAM leadership activities and for use at STEM conferences.
“The Rome Community Foundation’s financial support eliminates many of the logistical barriers that we have faced when depending on third-parties for certain equipment loaners and onsite support on behalf of our STEAM innovation camps and conference workshops. Their support helps us immensely in that regard and a big thank you to the Foundation for their help,” said PFF chairman Dr. Andrew Drozd.
The RCF is a nonprofit organization that administers grant awards supporting local organization capital needs under the direction of the Foundation’s Board of Directors. The RCF’s mission is to assist in providing monetary resources for capital improvements and expenditures for the present and future enrichment of the Rome area community.
The RCF grant to PFF was approved by the Board of Directors from the General Endowment Fund on the recommendation of the Grant Committee. According to Victor Fariello, RCF Executive Director, a considerable volume of grant applications was received in the last quarter of 2023, and in many cases the amounts approved were lower than originally requested to help multiple local organizations and projects with high-priority needs.
The RCF board continuously monitors developments in the community and keeps an eye on the future as it considers submitted requests on a quarterly basis.
