The Project Fibonacci® Foundation, Inc. provides a series of immersive learning programs on STEAM topics in cooperation with local schools, businesses and non-profit organizations. Our year-round initiative is focused on using STEAM education as a catalyst and driver for workforce preparedness and economic redevelopment.
In short, we believe that people with well-rounded education make for a better prepared workforce, which is attractive to employers and more fertile ground for entrepreneurial startups, and that in turn makes for a healthier economy.
Through the promotion of STEAM educational programs we can inspire and enlighten students at a young age, provide opportunities for internships and academic advantages, and help prepare the next wave of productive citizens.
The Project Fibonacci® Foundation is a leader in promoting science, technology, engineering, arts and math (STEAM) educational opportunities in New York state. Our mission is to introduce our youth to a culture of interdisciplinary STEAM learning, and teach them to become creative, independent leaders of community resurgence. Our emphasis on the arts within the traditional science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) academic discipline plays a critical role in building the confidence, decision-making and problem-solving skills of our future leaders.
Young scholars from throughout the Central New York, Mohawk Valley, Western New York, Finger Lakes, Southern Tier, North Country, Capital District, Hudson Valley, Long Island and New York City regions of New York come together year-round to participate and collaborate in fun STEAM learning opportunities conducted or supported by The Project Fibonacci Foundation. Through these opportunities, our vision is to enrich STEAM communities and drive a modern renaissance in New York state.
What is STEAM?
STEAM is typically an acronym for Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics, but the Project Fibonacci® Foundation believes it encompasses so much more!
STEAM recognizes that to be successful in life and fulfill the advancing demands of society, individuals must also be creative and use critical thinking skills which are best developed through a combination of STEM and the arts.
According to a recent study from Change the Equation, an organization that supports STEM education, there are 3.6 unemployed workers for every available job in the United States. That compares with only one unemployed STEM worker for two unfilled STEM jobs throughout the country. Many jobs are going unfilled simply for lack of people with the right skill sets. Source
The Project Fibonacci Foundation is working hard to close the gap between the lack of skilled workers and highly rewarding career opportunities by positively motivating and enlightening the next generation of engineers, scientists, artists and overall productive citizens.
Who is Fibonacci?
During the 13th Century, Fibonacci “discovered” a branch of mathematics that neatly describes emergent patterns we often encounter in science, engineering, nature, art, music and elsewhere throughout the cosmos. Centuries later, the significance of these patterns and the interrelationships between these disciplines has never been greater.
It is this founding principle that fuels The Project Fibonacci® Foundation, and our vision for enriching STEAM communities and driving a modern renaissance throughout New York state.
