The annual Project Fibonacci STEAM conference provides a unique experience for young scholars to participate in a hands-on, immersive learning environment. The event features an all star lineup of keynote speakers throughout the week to inspire the next wave of young scholars.

STEAM Outreach Coordinator Dan Kostelec discusses the importance the addition of arts to a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Math) education. STEAM recognizes that to be successful in technical fields, individuals must also be creative and use critical thinking skills which are best developed by adding in exposure to the arts.

Communications Media Intern Jasmine Millner discusses the incredibly accomplished list of individuals that are a part of the speaker series. Millner’s personally very excited about the accomplished women speaking the first two days, Dr. Deborah Berebichez, who is the first Mexican woman to graduate with a PhD in physics from Stanford University, and Christina McKinley who is an author & musician who wrote “Physics for Rock Stars”.

Daymond John and Julie Taboulie are also featured speakers who will be taking part in a young entrepreneurial & business panel where students pitch ideas for feedback. They’re not trying to sell the idea like they would if Daymond John was sitting in his arm chair on ABC’s “Shark Tank”, but they’re going to present their work in order to gain guidance on these early ideas.

The conference will take place for an entire week for the invited students but the speaker series is open to the public. Christina McKinley will speak on Monday, Dr. Deborah Berebichez on Tuesday, Dr. Michio Kaku on Wednesday and Daymond John on Thursday. All speeches will be at the Rome Free Academy at 6:30pm. Tickets are $25 and you can buy them at the door or online at projectfibonacci.orghttp://projectfibonacci.org.
